I started writing this post while I was waiting for a good 5 hours in Lisbon airport to get back to base… with no sleep.. but finished it now.. I thought I would write this now that memories are fresh because they may fade sooner or later..
16 days in New York were not enough.
You may go 16 days X 10 visits and they might not be enough either in order to explore the big city; its streets and avenues, the parks, the museums and galleries, the theaters, the countless restaurants with any cuisine your appetite asks for. In New York you will meet people from any country.. there may be countries that you will not have located on the map. You will hear people speaking many different languages..Music is everywhere in the city. In the subway, on the streets, in the bars, at the parks..There are innumerable gyms to work out. There are amazing graffiti, beautiful university campuses to walk at. It is likely that you will see many hard working students sitting at the stairs getting fresh air and solar energy. You can also visit the New York Public library where you can read or borrow books no matter from which country you come from.
New York City has everything you may ask for. It’s a crossroad of the world.. New York offers the opportunity to learn.. once you start walking on one of its streets or avenues.. you always stumble into a museum, a gallery, a park where someone is playing music.. it is without doubt the city that never sleeps.
New York is the city I loved and I hate at the same time .. because everything happens so fast before you manage to realize it.. New York is the center of consumerism .. either this is food related or has to do with human relationships..Here there is no time for something to develop .. It must be consumed directly without any intermediate procedures ..Everything that becomes a trend in Europe is born here.
There is such a multiculturality in the different areas of the city that there were times I was forgetting I was in the States..
p.s. Organic products and shops are a trend and you see them everywhere you turn your head to.. Consuming anything organic (i.e. natural) seems to be divine, something ideal that not everyone can have .. and that’s funny. Eating and living a healthy life cannot be a trend but a lifestyle that we forgot long time ago.
some photos..or many!
